"Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family. Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one." --Jane Howard

Welcome to Faeye Photography, Michigan's family photographer.

Your family is your support system, your home, your life. I understand the precious moments that make up your everyday life, and whether it is the boisterous personality of your growing family, your unique teenager about to graduate high school, or anything in between, I want to make images that capture both your eye and your heart in a way that a snapshot or department store photograph never could.

Physical Education with MSU and MMS

Physical Education with MSU and MMS

Last week I had the pleasure of visiting a school that has a special place in my heart, MacDonald Middle School in East Lansing. My father has been a teacher there since I was a child, my husband was a student there, and when I returned home from college I worked there myself. So I jumped at the opportunity to visit my old stomping grounds and take a group photo. The physical education teacher at MMS, Ms. Cregg, has been working in coordination with the Michigan State University kinesiology department for a special fitness program involving a large chunk of their student population. Somewhere along the way she decided to do something nice for the PhD student from MSU who was working with her, and that's where I come in. She thought it would be nice to give the student a group photo of the kids in the program that she would be able to hang on her wall forever. MacDonald Middle SchoolUnfortunately our plan to take the photo outside was ruined by a thunderstorm and lots of mud, so we took it in the gymnasium bleachers instead. Looking at the images I captured however, I can't help but think that there was no better place. While a photo taken in front of the attractive school building showing the school sign may have been more attractive, a photo of physical education students in the school gymnasium is a better representation of the program. I wish the best of luck to Ms. Cregg and all the Physical Education students at MacDonald Middle School!

Are You Quirky About Your Child’s Health?

Today I was doing my normal perusal of the day's headlines at CNN, when I happened across an article about parents who are picky about their children's health. It details stories about parents who do research and ask questions. While some of their health habits may seem odd or even paranoid, I think that it is healthy and positive for a parent to ask questions of doctors and dentists when something doesn't make sense concerning their child. Don't be afraid to make your pediatrician roll their eyes...it may be frustrating for them to answer so many questions, but at least you will be armed with the information you need to take responsibility for all that "consent" you give.
